Kayana Pro

The Kayana Pro Program is a pioneering initiative by Kayana aimed at empowering women gig workers in Kenya’s creative and digital industries. Launched in October 2023 in partnership with the GIZ Digital Transformation Centre (DTC) Kenya and GFA Consulting Group, the program bridges critical gaps in the gig economy by combining skills training, mentorship, financial literacy, wellness, and access to digital work opportunities.

The program also introduced “36 Degrees East”, an innovative online platform designed to connect verified freelancers with clients, ensuring fair pay, access to opportunities, and efficient workflow management.

  • 150+ gig workers reached, with 65 completing the full certification program
  • Creation of 36 Degrees East, a verified digital marketplace for freelancers and employers
  • Hosted 10+ interactive masterclasses and industry visits featuring experts from Fastagger, Well Made Strategy, and Shamiri Health
  • Introduced group insurance options and virtual assistant support for participants
  • Participants reported significant growth in digital literacy, financial awareness, and business confidence
  • Built a thriving community of creatives through events like Risk & Rumble, Ledgers & Laughs, and Strategy Sessions
