The Kayana Pro Program is a pioneering initiative by Kayana aimed at empowering women gig workers in Kenya’s creative and digital industries. Launched in October 2023 in partnership with the GIZ Digital Transformation Centre (DTC) Kenya and GFA Consulting Group, the program bridges critical gaps in the gig economy by combining skills training, mentorship, financial literacy, wellness, and access to digital work opportunities.
The Kayana Pro pilot ran from October 2023 to March 2024, connecting over 150 gig workers from Nairobi and surrounding towns to digital skills, business tools, and networking opportunities. Through workshops, business visits, and coaching sessions, participants gained practical skills in:
The program also introduced “36 Degrees East”, an innovative online platform designed to connect verified freelancers with clients, ensuring fair pay, access to opportunities, and efficient workflow management.
Graduates of Kayana Pro have transformed their businesses through better financial management, professional branding, and the integration of AI and digital tools. They now have access to continuous mentorship, client connections through 36 Degrees East, and peer learning circles within the Kayana Community.
